Wash And Care

Important notes when you start using BambooLite products

BambooLite bamboo product may not reach its full absorbency initially. You will need to wash and dry the item at least three times to remove natural oils and waxes that will inhibit absorption. The item will require 6 wash and dry cycles before it reaches full absorbency. However, you can start using the item after first wash. You have to change the item more often initially to prevent leak until the item reaches its full absorbency.

To preserve your bamboo product and maintain its fabulous absorbency, please consider the following recommendations:

Washing Instructions (Diaper/Insert/Wipe)
1. Dispose off any solids on the diaper into toilet.
2. Remove the insert from the diaper.
3. Pre-rinse wet or soiled diaper/insert/wipe with clean water.
4. Place the diaper/insert/wipe in a pail prior to washing.
5. Wash in lukewarm water and less detergent (about ¼ of the recommended amount).
6. Line the diaper/insert/wipe to dry in the sunshine. Drying in direct sunlight is the very best method for drying
    and disinfecting.

Washing Instructions (Raw Silk Liner)

1. Hand-wash is recommended.
2. Use mild detergent.
3. Gently scrub.
4. Do not wring.
5. Hang to drip dry.

Cautions
1. DO NOT SOAK the diaper in detergent. Store dirty diapers in a dry pail until the wash day.
2. DO NOT BLEACH as they are easily damaged by bleaching.
3. DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER as they tend to block the micro-gaps in the fibers leading to reduced
    absorbency.
4. DO NOT USE OIL BASED DETERGENT/SOAP as the oils in them which will leave residue behind.
5. AVOID CONTACT WITH RASH CREAM that leave residue on these fibers. If rash cream is applied to your
baby, place a sheet of liner to prevent direct contact with the bamboo fabric.

But Which Detergent Suits Best???

Many of us go about buying cloth diapers being ill-informed about how to wash and care for our diapers, which then leads to a whole lot of disappointment because the cloth diaper that we purchased did not perform well enough.

I too, like many mothers, had to dig it up over the internet, pulling my hair out just to figure out, WHICH ONE??

I happen to stumble upon the This Website, Pinstripes and Polkadots.

I myself am using Pureen's HAD liquid detergent, which is available in any major leading supermarkets at around RM20.00 a liter. I personally think this works the best. Plus, you don't really need to use much of it either. 1 liter saves you 2 to 3 months of detergent and I got mine from Parkson Grand.

If in any doubt, just be sure that the detergent is Enzyme free and non-antibacterial. It should be hypoallergenic. Stay away from bleach and softeners as well.
